Hine Replaces Brightbill at Banos Brothers Racing

Carroll Hine will take over driving duties for Keith Brightbill aboard the Banos Brothers Racing #25 for the rest of the year.

Hine becomes the third driver to drive the second Banos Brother Racing entry, Danny Erb started the year with the team but was quickly replaced by Brightbill.

Engine woes led to Brightbill's dismissal from the team. A blown engine in the Jeremy Banos #3 led to the team using the motor that was in Brightbill's car in the #3 car.

Carroll Hine will be proving the team with his own motor, which contributed to Banos putting him in the car for the remainder of the season.

Bridgeport Speedway has the Tom Hager Memorial scheduled for Wednesday, as the modifieds battle for $4,300 to win the 43-lap feature event. It will be hand 3 of the Poker Series.

Granby Rained Out; Big Week Planned; VanInwegen to Sherlock?

In other news, Billy VanInwegen will get a shot aboard the Sherlock Motorsports #10 big-block modified this Saturday at Orange County Fair Speedway. The team entered their first race since releasing Michael Storms when Randy Sherlock entered the open-small block show at Orange County last Thursday.

Saturday's race is tentatively the only scheduled start for VanInwegen aboard the Sherlock Motorsports #10, look for the team to try out a slew of drivers over the next few weeks.

Legendary driver Kenny Brightbill will return to the seat of a modified Saturday, July 28th at New Egypt Speedway's biggest race of the season, the Friends of Mike 100.

Brightbill will run as a teammate to Mike McAleer in the crown jewell event aboard a second Craig Pondish Racing entry.

This is currently the only race Brightbill plans on running in 2012, but he's looking for a ride to run other races.

Gilmore to Gagliardo

Veteran driver Kenny Gilmore will take over driving duties aboard the Gagliardo Motorsports #41, replacing Glenn Strunk.

Gilmore, who made 1 modified start this year with the Breitenstein Motorsports team when Chad Brachmann wasn't able to make the trip, will be joined by both Jon Kellner and Danny Erb at Grandview Saturday night, as the Gagliardo team grows to 3 cars.

Expect the Gagliardo team to jump to 4 modifieds shortly, as the team is finishing up a 4th modified for Brian Gagliardo.

Strunk Brothers, Tobias, Varin, and other Tidbits

Glenn Strunk has been released from the Gagliardo Motorsports #41 modified. Strunk, who returned to wheel the car late in the 2010 season after a long time away from the cockpit, ran the car weekly at Grandview and Big Diamond. The Gagliardo team has had a busy few weeks, as they released Corey Sechrist from driving duties of their sportsman team, and hired Danny Erb to pilot a 3rd modified entry. Jon Kellner Sr. and Erb will remain with the team, no word if Strunk will be replaced or if the team will continue with 2 entries.

Jeff Strunk and Norm Hansell continue to barely co-exist. Expect to see Strunk aboard a different ride after the $50,000 to win Freedom 76er at Grandview Speedway in September.

Richie Tobias is working on a surprising deal that would see him return to Super DIRT Week. The team interested in taking him would be making their Syracuse debut.

Bobby Varin will be aboard Tom Umbenhauer's #19 small block modified for the July 31st RoC Dirt Tour event at Grandview Speedway, if all goes well expect to see Varin return to that modified for the Freedom 76er.

Eastern Rigging Racing debuted a small block for Jared Umbenhauer at Grandview Speedway's last Thunder on the Hill race. Look for the team to bring in at least one, and potentially a second big-name driver to team with Umbenhauer in the 76er.

Canadian superstar David Hébert will be returning to Syracuse with a big and a small block, Canandaigua regular Mike O'Brien will return to the mile with a big block after a successful rookie season, and Grandview/Big Diamond regular Kevin Albert will be making his Syracuse debut in the 358 division.

I'll have the win lists updated by tomorrow. Remember, Orange County Fair Speedway ($2,500 to win 358s, winner also is guaranteed second starting spot for the 358 portion of Eastern States Weekend) and Fonda Speedway ($4,000 to win big blocks) are in action tomorrow (Thursday).

Tidbits

Hey guys, with the races tonight at Grandview and Ransomville, I'll post the entire weekend results tomorrow.

Carl Nagel will make his return to the seat of a modified this Saturday night at Five Mile Point Speedway for the Heath Memorial. Nagel will be behind the wheel of his son's #m7 modified.

The Gypsum Race Team have confirmed that tentatively all 3 Gypsum Racing cars will make the haul and enter the Freedom 76er at Grandview Speedway. Wight and Decker both skipped the Super DIRTcar Series race at Cornwall on Sunday.

Look for the Sherlock #10 to possibly sit parked until the end of the season. Everything is currently still up in the air.

Tommy Sears has confirmed his plans to once again enter the SEF 200 at Super DIRT Week with the Faye Motorsports 62s.

Check back here tomorrow as not only will I have results, but I'll also have a little piece about some of the rising stars making a name for themselves today.
