Trying Something New; Weekend Highlights

Quite a few tracks are starting to post weekly highlight videos on their website. So, I figured I'd try to post them all here. Let's see how this works out. Special thanks to all the talented videographers that shoot and edit these highlights for us. Click the track for the video...

Brewerton Speedway saw the most exciting race of the weekend, as Matt Sheppard and Willy Decker put on a show for the fans.

Duane Howard continued his dominance at Grandview Speedway but Jon Kellner Jr. did everything he could to hold him off for the win.

New Egypt Speedway saw Dom Buffalino and Willie Osmun engage in a great battle to the checkers.

At Canandaigua Motorsports Park Matt Sheppard picked up his 3rd win in as many races at the Land of Legends. Australian Peter Britten made it tough on him though.

Dale Planck picked up his first win at Fulton Speedway just 1 week after notching a win at Brewerton.

Penn Can Speedway and Big Diamond Speedway also offer up weekly highlight videos; unfortunately both tracks were rained out on Friday night.

These next few clips are highlight videos provided by Fox Fast Track. The only way to get them here is to embed the entire video. Here's are the highlights from Glen Ridge Motorsports Park.

Fonda Speedway highlights

And last but not least, Lebanon Valley highlights

Let me know if you like the idea or if you hate it. It also might look too cluttered, I'll get this all figured out I promise!

Fuller News; Grandview Wednesday; Updated Win List

Per Dirt Track Digest, Tim Fuller will be racing a modified more than we all originally though. On top of his originally planned modified schedule that included mostly special events, Fuller will now also strap himself into the Smith Brothers Racing #74 big block modified whenever he has an open Saturday at Fonda Speedway.

Grandview Speedway's first Thunder on the Hill Series event is tomorrow night (Wednesday May 25). The small block modifieds will be in action and will battle for $2,500 to win the 30 lap feature event.

Here's the updated win chart after this past weekend. Sheppard's win at Canandaigua on Saturday now ties him with Stewart Friesen for the most modified wins in 2011 with 5. Jeff Strunk has still won at the most different tracks, having won at 4 different facilities. There have been 74 different winners to this point in the season...

Tomkins and Davis Tidbits

Gary Tomkins has landed his 2nd full-time ride for the 2011 season. Tomkins has been running weekly at Orange County Fair Speedway aboard the Ray Tuit Racing #673 big block modified on Saturday nights, and now he'll have a Friday night home at Brewerton Speedway. The former Super Dirt Series champion will take over the Deek Decker owned #DEUCE big block modified every Friday night at Brewerton for the rest of the season. The Deuce car has only ran part-time the last few seasons with Alan Johnson behind the wheel. Johnson was originally named to drive the car, but has parted ways with the team.

Jimmy Davis, who's driven part-time for Jason Rood over the last year at Brewerton, Rolling Wheels, and other facilities, was named as the full-time driver of the 2nd Rood Racing for Brewerton action.

According to 'Pete' (from the chatbox) Danny Johnson Jr will return to the seat of a modified for the first time since 2009 this weekend at Canandaigua.

Wago Fantasy League Deadline Approaching

The 2011 Club Wago Crown Jewel Fantasy League will kick off at the RoC Dirt Tour event at Utica Rome Speedway on May 30th, which means that all entries for the league must be turned in by the time the cars hit the track for practice at Utica Rome. That leaves you guys less than 2 weeks to turn in your entries. For rules and to sign up, click the link directly to the left of this post. It's free to play and the winner will receive a free season pass to the track of the winner's choice.

Koffman Lands at S&N

Keith Hoffman, who originally was looking at sitting out the 2011 season to focus on spending time with his family before announcing he'd run weekly with his own equipment at Big Diamond Speedway, has been named the new driver of the S&N Racing #20 small block modified. Hoffman will run specials only for the team, including Brett Deyo's Four Crown Series and select RoC Dirt Tour events.

Hoffman replaces Jon Kellner, who drove for S&N Racing at Grandview Speedway weekly for the past few seasons. Kellner and the team split after the team announced that would no longer run weekly at Grandview Speedway, following unclear motor rules the track had in place.

Despite the 4-driver tie for most wins thus far in 2011, Jeff Strunk remains the only winner to have won at 4 tracks this year (Selinsgrove, Penn Can, Grandview, New Egypt). Seven total drivers have won at multiple tracks this season; they are Strunk, Stewart Friesen (Five Mile Point, Volusia, Brewerton), Brett Hearn (Volusia, Accord, Lebanon Valley), Matt Sheppard (Volusia, Glen Ridge, Canandaigua), Danny Johnson (Selinsgrove, Accord), Danny Creeden (Orange County, Five Mile Point), and Chad Cook (I-88, Thunder Mountain).

Luke Whitteker has been named the new driver of the CH Racing modified for weekly competition at Drummond and Granby. Whitteker will drive the car that's been ran for the last few seasons by David Hebert. It appears that Hebert will be running his own equipment this season, but that hasn't been confirmed.

Unfortunately, this will be my last post here until next Sunday night. I'm heading to West Virginia with some friends tonight, and won't be getting back until Sunday night. I hope everyone has a great next week of racing!

Hindley Suspended; Planck Injured

Tim Hindley has been suspended from competition for next week at Orange County Fair Speedway for his actions post-incident with Steve Dodd, which included getting a black flag and waving it towards Dodd.

Dale Planck was injured in a crash at Lernerville Speedway driving his late mode. Planck will miss a limited amount of time, but it shouldn't hurt him too much since he's not running for points anywhere this season.

Mike Ruggerio's win at Orange County was his first ever modified win. Ruggerio was driving the Double D Motorsports #53 big block modified Saturday night and will be the new driver of that car for the rest of the season.

Jordan McCreadie (Bob's son and Tim's younger brother) has moved up to the small block division at Can Am Motorsports Park and will drive a car co-owned by Pierre DaGenais at the big clay oval on Friday nights.
