Minor Update

Rolling Wheels has released their 2012 schedule. The schedule can be viewed here, http://rollingwheelsraceway.com/roktabsedit/114-2013-rolling-wheels-schedule

Katelyn Kane will be moving up to the modified division full-time in 2013. Kane entered select 358 races towards the end of the 2012 season.

Wednesday Update

Bill Hewlett will return to car ownership in 2013 with Eric Kormann behind the wheel of the famous 901 big-block. Hewlett scaled back in recent years to a sponsor/engine provider, most recently providing engines for Ron John Koczon in 2012.

Kormann and Hewlett will run a specials-only schedule beginning at Volusia in February. As for weekly racing, Kormann will return to the seat of the D'Ambrosio Racing #16s for weekly competition at Bridgeport.

Tim Apgar will be making the jump to modified racing in 2013. The sportsman veteran will run weekly at New Egypt Speedway.

Dom Buffalino is the first New Egypt regular to officially announce he'll jump ship to Bridgeport in 2013 following the announcement that New Egypt will run small blocks weekly.

Big Diamond has announced they will host a $7,500 to win big-block race on April 5th.

Autodrome Drummond has released their 2013 schedule already, it can be viewed here, http://raceproweekly.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=613:autodrome-drummond-releases-2013-schedule&catid=2:news

Varin to Petruska

Bobby Varin has landed in the Petruska Motorsports #66 for 2013. Varin, who had a solid run going before mechanical problems sidelined him at the Eastern States 200 with the Petruska team, will compete with the team weekly at Orange County Fair Speedway. Expect the team to start the season at Accord Speedway as well, along with select specials.

Varin still remains in the running to take over the Tom Cullen seat for weekly racing at Utica Rome Speedway.

Weekly Tidbit Update; Hyneman, Can Am, Deyo, and More

Hey guys, just wanted to give you a little update. Expect a once-a-week update over the next few weeks. I'll get back into the swing of things a little better later in the off-season, but for now unless some major news breaks it'll mostly be a once-a-week thing.

We'll start off with Glenn Hyneman. I've gotten the go-ahead to release that Duane Howard is all-but-signed with the Hyneman 126 team. The defending Grandview Speedway track champion will continue to drive for Chad Sinon's BPG Racing in weekly competition, but travel with Hyneman. Again, this is not the official announcement, but the announcement shouldn't be too far away.

Can Am Motorsports Park will be going back to running on Friday nights in 2013. The track ran on Saturday nights in 2012.

Speaking of Can Am, there is talk that they may drop the modified division in 2013. The track struggled with car counts in recent years, and Christine Martin has already announced she will run Penn Can instead of Can Am in 2013. Zach Aubertine, the 2011 Can Am modified championship runner-up appears to be leaving the track as well regardless of what they do with the modified division. Look for Aubertine to focus on running the 358 DIRTcar Series while running weekly and Mohawk International Speedway and/or Brockville Ontario Speedway.

Kevin Smith, a former sportsman standout at Big Diamond Speedway who has significantly scaled back on his racing in 2012, will be moving up to the modified division for weekly competition at Big Diamond.

Look for sportsman Super DIRT Week winner Rocky Warner to go big-block racing on a part-time basis in 2013. Warner competed in some big-block events with his sportsman motor towards the end of the season at Glen Ridge.

Brett Deyo has announced 2 dates for races he will promote at Penn Can Speedway for 2013. The first will be the annual RoC Dirt Tour sanctioned "Clash at the Can" on June 11th, and the second will be the $5,000-to-win "King of the Can" on October 18th. Deyo announced a third promotion back in October for June 18th at New Egypt Speedway for the Super DIRTcar Series sanctioned "Dirty Jersey 60."

Also, just wanted to wish a congratulations to our good friend Billy Pauch Jr on his recent marriage!

Hyneman Update, Tidbits

Jeff Strunk will not be in the Hyneman 126 in 2013. However, multiple credible sources have informed me that another one of PA's top modified stars, and a former driver of the 126, will be taking over driving duties of the car. The deal is very close to being official.

Brett Tonkin will be switching his Friday night home to I-88 Speedway for 2013. Tonkin had a great year at Penn Can and Five Mile Point before being suspended from Penn Can for an altercation involving his pit crew. It should be noted that Brett Tonkin was still on the track when all that took place.

Look for the 358 modified division to return to Orange County Fair Speedway on a part-time basis in 2013. Over the last 2 seasons the track has only had 358s for an annual summer date, and also for Eastern States.

The dirt modified season officially ends today when the checkered flag falls at Wall Speedway.

I hope everyone had a very good Thanksgiving!

Tidbits; Winter Bash

Sorry again about the delay in updates over here, been dealing with all kinds of fun things as I'm buying my first house.

Area Auto Racing News has reported that Glenn Hyneman and Billy Pauch have parted ways, and Hyneman hopes to do more racing this year. Jeff Strunk could be a potential driver, but no word on who will take over yet.

Tyler Dippel, who had a fantastic rookie sportsman season, will move up to the modified division at Accord Speedway. Dippel will continue to run sportsman at Orange County.

Christine Martin will be changing her home track in 2013. The former Can Am regular will focus on weekly competition at Penn Can next season.

The season officially comes to an end this season as the dirt modifieds tackle the asphalt at Wall Speedway as part of the popular Turkey Derby weekend, and the big-blocks return to Georgetown Speedway as well. Both events will take place on Saturday, November 24th.

Ray Carroll, who planned on teaming up with Hyneman and Kevin Bilfulco for an assault on Super DIRT Week this past season, is already making plans to field a car by himself for Super DIRT Week 2013. Carroll would like to hire a PA or NJ driver to pilot his big-block.

We will be having a Wago Winter Bash party on January 26th in Beltzner Hall at the Kutztown Fairgrounds in Kutztown, PA. Ticket prices are still being determined, but we'll have plenty of Wago Juice, beer, door prizes, a DJ, and are looking at having some indoor big wheel races as well. I hope to see you all there!

Monday, November 12, 2012

Tim Buckwalter Going Modified Racing

ARDC midget top-runner Tim Buckwalter will be making the jump to modified racing in 2013. Former modified team owner Gary Spotts will be returning to the sport to field modifieds for Buckwalter in weekly competition at Grandview Speedway.

Been Away...

Sorry guys, real-life stuff has gotten in the way lately. May be a few weeks until everything gets settled, so don't expect a ton of updates until probably after Thanksgiving. I will be at Bridgeport both days this weekend and hope to see you guys there.

I've been out of the loop on the news-wire lately, but obviously there's some track news that's pretty old but I never posted on here about it.

New Egypt is dropping big blocks and running small blocks as the headliner, while Big Diamond Speedway and RPM Speedway were both sold. Both tracks will continue to run small blocks as their headline class next season.

Not much else to report right now, sorry!

Stay Safe!

Just want to wish everyone the best as we deal with Sandy.

The race weekend was cut short, as Lernerville and Hagerstown were only able to get qualifying in before feature events were postponed. Hagerstown will now run November 11th, while Lernerville is postponed until April. With the postponement, Brian Weaver has been crowned the BRP champion.

Five Mile Point Speedway was able to run, and it was Danny Johnson who won the 1/4 Mile Nationals and his first RoC Dirt Tour title. With the win, Danny Johnson now has a leading 14 career RoC Dirt Tour wins, second on the win list is Bobby Varin and Stewart Friesen with 8 each.

In some other news, Billy VanInwegen will be going to the World Finals, and has also been named the lead driver for the Sherlock Motorsports team in 2013. Look for Randy Sherlock, Matt Hitchcock, and Joe Bargabello to also run a second entry at times at Orange County in 2013. VanInwegen will run Orange County and also do some traveling.

Michel Chicoine, Bob McGannon, Ryan Godown, Tim Hindley, and Kenny Tremont are all going to be running the World Finals this weekend.

Look for Adam and Aaron Bartemy to head south to Volusia in February. The brothers are looking at potentially switching their home tracks from Airborne to Granby in 2013.

Jerry Higbie will team up with Steve Paine for this weekend's $6,000-to-win event at Black Rock Speedway.

Hagerstown Entry List, Other Tidbits

Hagerstown has released the pre-entry list for the Brawl in the Fall (Octoberfest). This is the final 5-digit-to-win show of the 2012 season. There are quite a few drivers that did not pre-register, so don't be too alarmed by the lack of pre-entered cars...

0 Richie Pratt
6x Eric Engstrom
9s Matt Sheppard
12D Steve Downs
20 Brett Hearn
28 Kyle Borror
29 Chris Ostrowsky
30 Jamie Mills
m40 Mark Forte Jr
R40 Ryan Forte
44B Jim Bobbitt
60 Brian Berger
63 Adam Roberts
71 David Van Horn
74 J.R. Heffner
92 Scott Irwin
99L Larry Wight
117 Kevin Hirthler

Five Mile Point Speedway hosts the 1/4 Mile Nationals on Saturday night this week. They will crown the RoC Dirt Tour champion, Danny Johnson currently leads by just 8 points over Jimmy Phelps. Stewart Friesen, Ryan Godown, and Pat Ward all have outside shots at the title.

Lernerville Speedway will also be in action with the 2-day Steal City Stampede Weekend which will be the final race of the BRP Modified Tour. Brian Weaver leads points heading into the finale.

Georgetown Speedway has announced an additional date to their schedule. The big-blocks will return to the 1/2 mile on November 3rd for a $3,000 to win event.

Don't be surprised to see Bobby Varin run weekly at Grandview Speedway in 2013. The driver has been offered at least 2-rides, including an offer from a top Pennsylvania team to run Big Diamond and Grandview weekly. Varin's Dover Brake Racing 00 team will be scaling back in 2013, and the Andy Romano team's plans are up in the air as the family is no longer involved with Glen Ridge Motorsports Park.

Look for Billy VanInwegen to enter the World Finals with the Sherlock Motorsports #10 big-block modified. The team is still testing out VanInwegen to determine if he will be their 2013 driver.

Last Minute Tidbits

In case you missed it in the chatbox, got some last minute tidbits before heading up to Orange County Fair Speedway for Eastern States Weekend.

You can add Brett Tonkin to the small block list, and Kevin Bates to the big and small blocks lists for this weekend (see below for ESW potential roster).

Also, Michael Storms will run the 358 race on Saturday in one of Brett Hearn's back up cars.

Kenny Brightbill has landed a ride in the Jeff Brown #9 big-block for the DE State Championships this weekend at the Delaware International Speedway.

Some Tidbits

Well, it is officially post-Super DIRT Week depression time as my favorite week of the year is officially over until 2013.

Not much, but here are a few tidbits.

Tom Cullen will have a new driver aboard the seat of his #1wgc modifieds in 2013. While a driver has yet to be named, Stewart Friesen will not return to the seat of the car he claimed his second consecutive Utica Rome Speedway championship with. The seat seems to be down to just 2 drivers, one of Cullen's former drivers in Willy Decker and Bobby Varin.

Look for Stewart Friesen to get a few more runs in the Vinnie Salerno #4 car in 2013. Friesen debuted in the car normally piloted by Tim McCreadie at the Freedom 76er after his own small block was damaged the week prior.

Following a solid season on the asphalt at Thunder Alley Speedway Park in 2012 with his dirt modifieds, and a miserable Super DIRT Week, Tony Steiner is selling out of dirt modified racing to focus on asphalt racing.

Mike Bowman (Merrittville regular, not to be confused with Fulton/Brewerton regular Mike Bowman) will have a big block at his disposal for the World Finals. It will be Bowman's first run with a big block under the hood, despite picking up a Super DIRTcar Series win earlier this season against the big blocks at Merrittville Speedway.

As announced at Syracuse, New Egypt Speedway will return to the Super DIRTcar Series in 2013. Look for at least one more track to return to the schedule after being off for a few years, and also look for a former DIRTcar-sanctioned track to return to DIRTcar sanctioning.

Outside of Eastern States Weekend, Kenny Brightbill will be running the Heavy Business Racing #19 at Delaware International Speedway for the DE State Championships. It will be the team's first run in quite a few years. Brightbill was offered the Eugene Mills owned #30, but unfortunately had already accepted the ride with the Heavy Business team.

More 76er Updates

Excitement mode is in full swing for Saturday's $50,000 to win Freedom 76er. Two more

Kevin Hartnett will pilot a third BPG Racing entry, teaming up with Duane Howard and Ryan Watt. Hartnett, a former Penn Can Speedway champion and runner up in the 2005 Freedom 76er, ran a few races at Grandview this season aboard the S&N Racing #20, following the team parting ways with original 2012 driver Wade Hendrickson.

Alan Johnson was originally planning to run the Freedom 76er aboard the Kenny Saya owned #10J. Now, plans have changed, and Johnson will jump aboard the Kyle Weiss owned #21K that he piloted to a second place finish in the 2011 Freedom 76er.

Craig Whitmoyer has also confirmed his participation in this week's race.

Monday, September 10, 2012

Cicconi to run 76er for John Willman

TQ and Super Modified superstar Lou Cicconi is the latest driver to throw his name into the mix for the $50,000 Freedom 76er top prize.

Cicconi will run John Willman's #74w. Willman will be aboard the S&N Racing #20 that he has piloted most of the season at Grandview Speedway.

Minor Tidbits-Look At the 76er

As noted on the chatbox, Billy Pauch's Super DIRT Week deal has fallen through.

Dale Planck will only be running the small block race at Syracuse.

Here's a list of guys that have confirmed to me or have been confirmed in Ernie Saxton's press releases for the Freedom 76er, which is this Saturday. Obviously, there are a ton of guys that I don't have listed that will be in attendance. Let me know if you know of anyone not on the list that will be running...

76er Updates

Just a few 76er updates for everyone.

Last year's second place finisher, Alan Johnson, will be back at the Freedom 76er in 2012 in hopes of picking up the $50,000 check. Current plans are for him to run the Kenny Saya owned #10J. If he runs into problems this weekend at Utica Rome Speedway, he'll jump into the Kyle Weiss #21K.

Brad Brightbill will run a second Team F.A.S.T. entry and will be a teammate to Meme DeSantis. Look for Brightbill to possibly shake the car down this weekend. Kenny Brightbill may also be at Grandview this weekend as he looks to shake down his #19.

Gary Tomkins has landed a ride for the big race aboard one of Bobby Trapper's cars. It will be Tomkins first ever 76er.

Rest In Peace, J.C. Flach

The racing world has lost J.C. Flach today. Flach, a 29-year old big-block regular at Lebanon Valley Speedway was fatally injured in a work-related incident this morning. We'd like to express our deepest condolences to all of J.C.'s friends and family.

J.C. (pictured above-Mike Petrucci Photo) picked up his first career modified feature this year. Words can't express the sorrow I feel for the entire Flach family. We'll miss you, J.C.

Terrance, Dunn, & Pauch Kick Off Labor Day Weekend; Weekend Schedule and Some Tidbits

One of the biggest weekends in racing is officially underway, as Carey Terrance and Billy Pauch picked up Thursday night wins, while Billy Dunn picked up a track championship.

In a weekend filled with extra-money races and championship deciding events, Mohawk International Raceway and Bridgeport Speedway got things started a day early. Mohawk crowned their 2012 track champion in an event that counted towards the All-American Mini Series championship, and Bridgeport had hand 4 of the Poker Series.

Mohawk International Raceway saw Carey Terrance hold off a hard-charging Billy Dunn to pick up his second win in a row at the John Lazore operated facility. Dunn's second place finish was enough to clinch his first Mohawk International Raceway championship, as he edged out defending champion Chris Raabe despite Dunn missing the opening night.

Bridgeport Speedway saw Billy Pauch win a thriller as he passed Jimmy Horton with two laps remaining and picked up the $4,000 win. After the finish Horton showed his displeasure as

Kenny Brightbill will be make his return to the seat of a modified on Monday night at New Egypt Speedway's Friends of Mike race aboard the Craig Pondish owned #6B. After the Labor Day special, Brightbill's next race will be the Freedom 76er at Grandview Speedway, where he is a guaranteed starter. Look for Brightbill to run one of his own #19 at that race.

Mike Nicholas has been making phone calls looking for a big name driver to run the Freedom 76er for his team. He's already spoken with a few drivers including Tim McCreadie and Alan Johnson. No word on who will officially be behind the wheel of his car yet.

Jeff Strunk will officially be behind the wheel of the Jimmy Blewett #66 at Super DIRT Week for the SEF 200. Blewett will run his own 358 in Saturday's Gander Mountain 150.

Minor Tidbits

Butch Tittle will be coming out of retirement for a few end-of-the-year races in a partnership with Danny Creeden, starting with the King of the Catskills at Accord Speedway. Look for Tittle to also enter the Short Track Super Nationals at Five Mile Point Speedway, and the King of the Can at Penn Can Speedway if all goes well.

Tommy Kinsella will be returning to the seat of a modified this weekend as he will pilot a second Roger Phelps owned #99 big-block at Fulton Speedway on Saturday night.

Here's an updated look at the Super DIRT Week and Freedom 76er driver lists so far (feel free to let me know if you know anyone that is confirmed for either that I don't have listed.) Don't be alarmed at the low number of cars on the Super DIRT Week list, I've been focused on getting info on the 76er instead as of late.

Let's Take a Look at the Season So Far...

Ladies and gentleman, it's August. The big-money end-of-the-year shows kick off in just over a week, and championships are nearing their conclusion.

Seems like a perfect time to take a look back at a busy season of racing, and highlight some of the things that have happened thus far.

February: Month of emotions... Before the season could get started, February kicked off on a somber note as the modified racing world lost it's second driver over the winter months. Mike Ronca passed away suddenly in early February, just months after losing Wade Decker. Both drivers have not been forgotten, Mike's brother Don Ronca has changed his number to 7 for 2012 to pay tribute to Mike, while I-88 Speedway hosted the Wade Decker Memorial.

The season kicked off with 4 races down in sunny Florida as a healthy field of 40 big-blocks made the trek south for the DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.

Brothers Danny and Alan Johnson decided to break in victory lane for the rest of the competitors, as they claimed the first 2 races of the 2012 season, but it was Matt Sheppard (feature win & championship) and Rob Bellinger ($5,000 finale winner) who stole the headlines as the modifieds left the sunshine state.

March: We'll call it the month of destruction... Tyler Siri reportedly bought Black Rock Speedway, then didn't, then did, then didn't, in the end, Dean Hoag still runs Black Rock Speedway-destroying Tyler Siri's dreams of running a race track in 2012. Brewerton Speedway destroyed DIRT's hopes that they would be able to work out a deal for the Thursday of Super DIRT Week by upping their winner's purse for the Hurricaine 100 to $10,000 to win.

Duane Howard and Billy Pauch destroyed the field at Selinsgrove, Ryan Godown destroyed his tires first and the field second as a new era kicked off at Bridgeport, and big-blocks returned to Black Rock with Matt Sheppard... you guessed it, destroyed the field.

April: Month of returns... Gary Mann and Glenn Hyneman announced surprising returns for 2012, Mann announced he'd partner with Jerry Higbie for RoC Dirt Tour events, with Hyneman partnered with former driver Billy Pauch for specials.

Rain returned and officially cancelled their first race of 2012 (Volusia rain out was rescheduled and ran), that honor went to Sharon Speedway on April 14. Danny Johnson returned to victory lane as the Super DIRTcar Series officially kicked off at Canandaigua. The dirt returned to Albany-Saratoga Speedway and saw Stewart Friesen and Tim McCreadie take home victories on their opening weekend. Meme DeSantis notched a win at Big Diamond, and returned to victory later that night as he swept the twin-features.

Mike Mahaney kicked off what's been a break-out season with a surprising win at Fonda Speedway's Ice Jam.

May: Month of heat... A complaint from Ryan Godown saw Billy Pauch DQed for placement of a weight. Pauch fans got heated, but Godown got on the track at New Egypt. Stewart Friesen got hot at Fonda, Andy Bachetti got hot at Accord, Duane Howard got hot at Grandview, Brett Hearn got hot at Albany and Lebanon Valley, Bobby Varin got hot at Glen Ridge, and Billy Van Pelt got hot at Woodhull.

Bobby Varin took home the first big pay-day of 2012 with the $10,000 victory in the Victoria 100. Also, Eric Gabany took advantage of a rare race for small blocks at Lernerville, and Randy Chrysler showed the BRP Tour how to do the Tuscarora Twist in Pittsburgh. Kolby Schroder, Ryan Susice, Eric Kormann, Danny Bouc, Jason Potter, and Neal Williams all picked up career modified win #1.

June: The month of depressing car counts... Selinsgrove's highly anticipated summer RoC event saw 15 modifieds show up, after a successful event in 2011 the RoC Tour was only able to draw 18 cars for Lincoln's race. Glen Ridge changed their weekly racing to Sundays as car counts on Fridays dipped below 15.

In less depressing news, Danny Johnson made Penn Can history with the $10,000 Clash at the Can victory and then won at Battle at the Border at Ransomville, Tim Sears Jr lived up to the hype at Fulton, David Hebert swept features at RPM, Danny Creeden ended Andy Bachetti's Accord streak, Jerry Higbie was crowned the King of Orange County, while Todd Stone and Patrice McGrail made history as the DIRTcar/Asphalt Series returned, Darren McCaughey and Keith Hoffman ended win droughts, and Jamie Mills and HJ Bunting went blow-for-blow at Delaware.

July: The month of suspensions. Not just suspensions, championship-contenders being suspended. Let's see if we can keep count, we saw Danny Johnson suspended for 1 race from Super DIRTcar Series competition for an altercation (he was leading series points at the time), Kevin Bolland suspended for the year for all DIRTcar-sanctioned events for an altercation and running a 2-way radio (was leading points at the time), Mat Williamson was suspended for the year from Ransomville Speedway (was running top-5 in points at the time), and Bobby Varin was suspended for a week for driving erratically in the pit area (was second in points at the time). The suspensions have done their damage, as Varin has decided to run elsewhere on Saturday nights the rest of the season, and Danny Johnson will skip at least one more Series event as he has announced he'll run the Freedom 76er in September instead of the Series race at Mohawk.

On the track, Randy Sherlock and Carl Nagel returned for a night, Jeff Heotzler finally kicked off his season, Keith Brightbill was replaced by Caroll Hine at Banos Racing, Grasso parked Mike Ricci's ride; resulting in Ricci teaming up with Kawalchuk, and the Gagliardo Motorsports team hired Danny Erb, fired Glenn Strunk, and hired Kenny Gilmore, Billy Pauch announced his return to Super DIRT Week, and Bobby Varin and Mike Mahaney landed rides for the Freedom 76er, get all that?

Georgetown Speedway announced they'll re-open later this season as well.

Chris Raabe started the month out with a bang as he shocked the Super DIRTcar Series drivers (and continued his dominance at Can Am). Rained postponed Friends of Mike at New Egypt twice, Kayle Robidoux hit his stride at Drummond and Granby, Stewart Friesen caused controversy with a win at Five Mile Point, I-88 saw heavy rain postpone the Wade Decker Memorial, Rick Laubach kept drawing kings in Bridgeport's Poker Series, and Sammy Piazza made history at New Egypt.

Bobby Varin won the Big Show, Kevin Bolland paid tribue to Lou Blaney, and Jamie Mills benefitted the Delaware State Police. RoC debuted at Black Rock with Matt Sheppard in victory lane, Danny Johnson won everything in sight, Mark Flach became the King of Lebanon Valley while Kim LaVoy became the first female modified winner since Jessica Zemken in 2008, and Ryan Godown was crowned RoC Southern Tour champion.

There it is, an incredibly quick recap that just scratched the surface of a great season we've been enjoying so far.

Doctor, Ricci, Fuller Tidbits; Weekend Schedule

Mike Payne, owner of Danny Johnson's #27J and #7z, has confirmed via The 31st Lap Radio show that Danny Johnson will enter the Freedom 76er at Grandview Speedway. Johnson, who received a guaranteed starting spot for the $50,000 to win event via his RoC Dirt Tour win at Grandview Tuesday night was originally scheduled to run the Super DIRT Series event at Mohawk International Raceway that night, but a one-race suspension from Super DIRT Series earlier in the season has put Johnson out of the championship hunt. You can listen to the entire interview with Payne at http://podcasts.fingerlakes1.com/31stlap/

Mike Ricci has parted ways with the Grasso Motorsports #19. Ricci will run for Kawalchuk Racing the rest of the 2012 season in weekly competition at Accord Speedway. Expect to see the Grasso team park the car for the rest of the season.

Pauch Returns to SDW

Billy Pauch will be making his return to Super DIRT Week in a joint effort between owners Glenn Hyneman, Kevin Bilfulco, and Ray Carroll. The team will enter the SEF 200 with a brand new #126 big-block modified.

Pauch, who is widely considered the best driver that has not won the 200 at Super DIRT Week (but has graced victory lane in 358 and Sprint Car competition during the fall classic) will return to the moody mile for the first time since 2005, when he ran an entry for Ray Carroll. That race was postponed after running a few laps, and Pauch did not return on the rain date. Pauch did take a time trial lap last year at Syracuse in a Herman Motorsports back-up, but only did that to gain eligibility to run the World Finals at Charlotte.

This is the veteran returning to Syracuse that I hinted about a few weeks ago.

Danny Johnson wins Grandview Thriller

Danny Johnson continued his fantastic 2012 season by picking up the RoC Dirt Tour event at Grandview Speedway after a late race battle with Rick Laubach. Johnson was able to hold off a hard-charging Duane Howard to pick up his 13th career RoC Dirt Tour victory. Johnson now sits 5 wins ahead of Stewart Friesen and Bobby Varin (both with 8 RoC wins) for the all-time win leader.

Ryan Godown came home 6th and won the RoC South championship.

Grandview Speedway (RoC Dirt Tour)
1st 7z Danny Johnson
2nd 4 Duane Howard
3rd 85 Stewart Friesen

Hine Replaces Brightbill at Banos Brothers Racing

Carroll Hine will take over driving duties for Keith Brightbill aboard the Banos Brothers Racing #25 for the rest of the year.

Hine becomes the third driver to drive the second Banos Brother Racing entry, Danny Erb started the year with the team but was quickly replaced by Brightbill.

Engine woes led to Brightbill's dismissal from the team. A blown engine in the Jeremy Banos #3 led to the team using the motor that was in Brightbill's car in the #3 car.

Carroll Hine will be proving the team with his own motor, which contributed to Banos putting him in the car for the remainder of the season.

Bridgeport Speedway has the Tom Hager Memorial scheduled for Wednesday, as the modifieds battle for $4,300 to win the 43-lap feature event. It will be hand 3 of the Poker Series.

Granby Rained Out; Big Week Planned; VanInwegen to Sherlock?
