Varin Wins RoC Dirt Tour at Utica Rome
Bobby Varin continued his amazing 2009 season, adding a RoC Dirt Tour win to his list of accomplishments this season Wednesday night at Utica Rome. Varin, a former RoC Dirt Tour Champion, held off a charging Pat Ward to pick up the $5,000 win. Ward held on for second, rounding out the top five were Stewart Friesen, Brett Hearn, and Willy Decker.

Wago Fantasy League Updated after Race #2

Race #2 was held at Cayuga County Fair Speedway, the All-Star 100 which paid $20,000 to win. Interesting note, the previous 2 seasons saw the winner of each race picked at least by someone in the fantasy league, this season, after 2 races, the winner of a race has yet to be picked, nobody picked Gary Tomkins for the Victoria 200 at Utica Rome Speedway, and nobody picked Ryan Phelps for the All-Star 100 at Cayuga County Fair Speedway. Thanks again to everyone who signed up for 2009!

Plenty of Tuesday Tidbits
First things first, the Fantasy League standings will be updated tonight. Now, onto the tidbits.
The Eastern Rigging Racing Team has announced the Steve Weikel is out of the #11 small block modified, and Mike Gular will take over the helm for weekly action at Big Diamond Raceway. South Jersey Dirt Racing was the first to break the news. This will be the team's 3rd driver of the season, Sean Merkel started off the year in the car. Gular will continue to enter select big block races in his own #53, and run Grandview Speedway weekly aboard the Terry Fastnacht Racing #53.
According to a very good source, the Super Dirt Series big block modifieds will make their return to Lowe's Motor Speedway in November of 2010, as part of the World Finals, joining the World of Outlaw Late Models and World of Outlaw Sprint Series. It's not official yet, so stay tuned.
Kenny Brightbill will be running a handful of shows New Egypt driving as a teammate to Mike McAleer, starting this weekend.

Ryan Phelps has HUGE Weekend; Weekend Round-up
Well, it was a huge weekend of racing, that saw Friday night as a complete wash, but a beautiful Saturday and Sunday made up for it.
Saturday night saw a slew of special shows on the east coast. The Canadian Dirt Series was in action at Autodrome Drummond for a 100 lap feature for the small block modifieds, David Hebert went on to pick up the popular win. In other small block action from Saturday, Kevin Hirthler and Craig Von Dohren split features at Grandview Speedway, Jerry Higbie won at Orange County Fair Speedway, and Larry Lampman used lap traffic to pick up the win at Merrittville Speedway. In big block action from Saturday night, the Thunder Series was at Fonda Speedway for a 50 lap, $5,000 to win feature, and Tony Pepicelli shocked the field to pick up his first win in close to 5 years. The Super Dirt Series was in action for preliminary night at Cayuga County Fair Speedway, and Ryan Phelps pulled off the upset win, which was the first series win of his career. In other action from Saturday for big blocks, Kenny Tremont notched off another win at Lebanon Valley Speedway, Joe Morel picked up career big block modified win at Orange County Fair Speedway, Chad Jones picked up his second win of the season at Mahoning Valley Speedway, Rob Kristyak picked up the popular win at Sharon Speedway, Martin Roy added another win to his total at Airborne Speedway, Bobby Puckett and Brian Weaver split features at Five Mile Point Speedway, Billy Pauch continued his dominance at New Egypt Speedway with another win, Jimmy Horton continued to build momentum with another win at Bridgeport Speedway, and Jamie Mills won topless night at Delaware International Speedway.

Huge Weekend of Racing; Gular Wins at Grandview on Wednesday night
Mike Gular came away with a big win in the Thunder on the Hill Series race for the small block modifieds on Wednesday night, July 15th. Gular held off Jimmy Horton for the win, rounding out the top 5 were all former Grandview Speedway modified track champions with Jeff Strunk, Terry Meitzler, and Duane Howard taking positions 3 through 5.
We've got a huge weekend or racing coming up this weekend. It all starts on Friday night, as Accord Speedway has their annual Joe Winne Memorial which pays $3,000 to win the 55 lap feature event, on top of that, the final 16 laps from last week's feature will be run as well. On Saturday night, the Thunder on the Thruway Series continues for the big block modifieds, this time at Fonda Speedway, as the drivers will run a 50 lap feature paying $5,000 to win. The All-Star 100 preliminary is also scheduled for Saturday at Cayuga County Fair Speedway, with $3,000 going to the winner of the 50 lap feature. Grandview Speedway and Five Mile Point Speedway also have double features for their premier divisions. Then, on Sunday, it's the innagural All-Star 100 for the Super Dirt Series, as the drivers get set to battle for $20,000 to win the 100 lap main event, which also pays $1,000 just to qualify.

Happy Birthday to Me! Weekend Roundup!
Well, I'm now officially 20 years old, one more year until the exciting one, haha. Thanks to everyone that wished me a happy birthday so far today! Now, let's jump into the results.
I was at the shore over the weekend so I missed posting Thursday's results from Brockville-Ontario Speedway. It was Brett Hearn who went on to stretch his points lead on the Super Dirt Series with the $6,000 triumph.
On Friday, the Super Dirt Series was again in action, this time it was Billy Decker holding off Hearn to pick up the win at Autodrome Granby. In other big block action from Friday, Kenny Tremont picked up the feature win at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, brothers Jeff and Al Rudalavage split twin features at Penn Can Speedway, Kevin Bolland notched off yet another win at Lernerville Speedway, Kevin Hartnett won his first race of the year at Redine Raceway, Bobby Varin continued his amazing season with another win at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park, Pat Ward invaded CanAm Motorsports Park and took home the win. In small block action from Friday night, the American Revolution Series had their second race at Mohawk International Raceway, and it was Brian McDonald picking up the feature win, Big Diamond Raceway saw Jeff Strunk continue to build momentum with another feature win, Eric Gauvereu notched off another win at Autodrome Edelweiss, and Rich Vinson led flag to flag at Ransomville Speedway.
On Saturday night, the Tri-Track Series invaded Bridgeport, and Rick Laubach went on to dominated the feature event and pick up the $3,000 feature event. In other big block action from Saturday, H.J. Bunting picked up his third win in a row at Delaware International Speedway, rain dominated the rest of the night.

Danny Johnson RoCs at Five Mile Point
The RoC Dirt Tour invaded Five Mile Point Speedway on Wednesday night, July 8th, for a $4,000 to win 75 lap feature. Danny Johnson started on the outside pole for the feature event, and passed pole-sitter Jim Gabriel early, and never looked back as he went on to collect his second RoC Tour win of the season. Brett Hearn finished second, rounding out the top 5 was Brian Weaver, Kevin Bates, and Matt Sheppard.

Bunting and Jumpin' Jack Pick Up Tuesday Night Wins
On Tuesday night, July 7th, Delaware International Speedway and Sharon Speedway both had special races for the big block modifieds. Delaware had a 25 lap feature (Camp Barnes Benefit Race) and Sharon had a 30 lap feature (Lou Blaney Memorial), and both paid $3,000 to win their respective features.
At Delaware it was H.J. Bunting, who won this same race in 2008, who used his big motor to pick up the big win. While Bunting dominated and led every lap, the rest of the top 5 battled hard, in the end Stewart Friesen finished second, with Chad James, Rick Laubach and Richie Pratt rounding out the top 5.
At Sharon Speedway, Jack Johnson, like Bunting at Delaware, started deep in his heat, went on to win the heat in dominating fashion, started on the pole, and dominated the feature to collect the $3,000 top prize, leading every lap of the 30 lap main event. It was the legends 3rd win of the season, all of them coming at 3 different tracks. Rounding out the top 5 in the innagural Lou Blaney Memorial was Rob Curtis, Dean Pearson, Jeremiah Shingledecker, and Jim Weller.
Also, I missed two special shows coming up this weekend. First up, for the small block modifieds, the Mohawk International American Revolution Series has their second race of the season at Mohawk International Raceway on Friday night, this race was scheduled to run last week but got rained out and rescheduled for Friday. Then, on Saturday, the Tri-Track Series has their next race of the season as they return to Bridgeport Speedway for a $3,000 to win top prize.
