Mahaney Continues Break Out Season

Mike Mahaney notched off another big win on his 2012 season with by picking up the RoC Dirt Tour North victory at I-88 Speedway on Wednesday night. Mahaney won his heat race and drew the pole for the 60 lap feature, and despite multiple restarts with Billy Decker and Stewart Friesen all over him, was able to easily go on to pick up the $5,000 victory.

The win was Mahaney's 3rd of the season, at his 3rd different track. Mahaney, who turns 23 on Saturday, has won $4,000 at Fonda Speedway's Ice Jam season opener, $3,000 in a mid-week special at Can Am Motorports Park, and also currently leads points at Utica Rome Speedway.

Storms and Sherlock breakup

Michael Storms will no longer be driving the Randy Sherlock Big Block Modified. No word yet on the new driver.

Godown Stays Hot

Sorry for not having a weekend wrap up this weekend. Win list will be updated by Thursday, and I'll bring the weekend wrap ups back this weekend.

Ryan Godown stayed hot, as he picked up the $4,000 RoC Dirt Tour victory at Selinsgrove Speedway. Godown passed then leader Brett Hearn for the race lead early, and would dominated the remainder of the 35-lap feature for the victory. Here's the top 5...

1st 747 Ryan Godown

3rd 85 Stewart Friesen
4th 20 Brett Hearn

There is a ton of racing on tap for the rest of this week. Here's what we've got on the schedule for mid-week races...

Welcome back to Jaime and one little tidbit

First, I would like to welcome Jaime back to Club Wago. He is a tremendous source of information.

One little note to add. Veteran Modified racer Rusty Smith is getting ready to return to Bridgeport Speedway. Smith was prepping to make his 2012 debut for this past week's Clash at the Can. A little behind in getting ready, Smith's car should be on the track in the next few weeks. For the past 2 years, he has been fielding a car for Butch Tittle and this will not happen in 2012 according to sources.

Minor Tidbits

Here are a few tidbits collected at Penn Can Tuesday night...

Bobby Varin was driving for big-block rookie Tyler Siri at Penn Can Speedway Wednesday night. Look for Varin to drive for Siri in select high-paying races throughout the year. Siri will also continue to travel with the Super DIRTcar Series.

Tentative plans are for Dom Buffalino to make his first career Super DIRT Week start in October with the Michael Bros. Racing #51m. The Michaels Bros. team has not ran the fall classic in nearly a decade, last entering with Donny Radd as the pilot.

Jamie Batzel was not able to run the King of the Can, so I-88 Speedway front-runner Jim Gabriel got the nod to drive the J27 for the night.

Full fendered star, P.J. Oliver, will be moving up to the modified division and running part-time for the rest of the season at New Egypt Speedway.

Doctor Dominates Penn Can

Danny Johnson took advantage of third starting spot by grabbing an early lead from Brian Weaver, and going largely unchallenged the rest of the night despite multiple restarts to take home the $10,000 Clash at the Can victory at Penn Can Speedway. Ryan Godown put on a fantastic charge coming from 26th starting spot to finish second, including a charge from outside the top-10 within the final 20 laps.

Danny Johnson's win gives him 11 RoC Dirt Tour wins, 3 more than Bobby Varin, who sits second on the all-time RoC win list.

Here's the top 5

Penn Can Speedway (RoC Dirt Tour $10,000 to win)
1st 7z Danny Johnson
2nd 88c Ryan Godown
3rd 357 Jeff Strunk
4th 126 Billy Pauch
5th 14w Ryan Watt

Good to be back!

Hey guys, hope everyone's doing well. First of all, I want to thank Mike for all his help over the last few weeks! Mike and myself will be doing the posts here going forward.

Tonight, we've got our second crown jewel race of the season with the Clash of the Can at Penn Can Speedway which will pay $10,000 to the winner of the 60-lap feature. The first major-paying race of the season, the Victoria 100 at Utica Rome Speedway, was won by Bobby Varin.

A few things to point out about this past week, Jarrod Miller and J.C. Flach collected first career victories, while Matt Sheppard went 4-4 with wins at Woodhull (Tuesday), Brewerton (Friday), Canandaigua (Saturday), and The Ridge (Sunday).

Also, the June 9th Super DIRTcar Series race at Black Rock Speedway has been cancelled due to the sale of the track to Tyler Siri never going through.
