Glenn Strunk has been released from the Gagliardo Motorsports #41 modified. Strunk, who returned to wheel the car late in the 2010 season after a long time away from the cockpit, ran the car weekly at Grandview and Big Diamond. The Gagliardo team has had a busy few weeks, as they released Corey Sechrist from driving duties of their sportsman team, and hired Danny Erb to pilot a 3rd modified entry. Jon Kellner Sr. and Erb will remain with the team, no word if Strunk will be replaced or if the team will continue with 2 entries.
Jeff Strunk and Norm Hansell continue to barely co-exist. Expect to see Strunk aboard a different ride after the $50,000 to win Freedom 76er at Grandview Speedway in September.
Richie Tobias is working on a surprising deal that would see him return to Super DIRT Week. The team interested in taking him would be making their Syracuse debut.
Bobby Varin will be aboard Tom Umbenhauer's #19 small block modified for the July 31st RoC Dirt Tour event at Grandview Speedway, if all goes well expect to see Varin return to that modified for the Freedom 76er.
Eastern Rigging Racing debuted a small block for Jared Umbenhauer at Grandview Speedway's last Thunder on the Hill race. Look for the team to bring in at least one, and potentially a second big-name driver to team with Umbenhauer in the 76er.
Canadian superstar David Hébert will be returning to Syracuse with a big and a small block, Canandaigua regular Mike O'Brien will return to the mile with a big block after a successful rookie season, and Grandview/Big Diamond regular Kevin Albert will be making his Syracuse debut in the 358 division.
I'll have the win lists updated by tomorrow. Remember, Orange County Fair Speedway ($2,500 to win 358s, winner also is guaranteed second starting spot for the 358 portion of Eastern States Weekend) and Fonda Speedway ($4,000 to win big blocks) are in action tomorrow (Thursday).
