Well, it is officially post-Super DIRT Week depression time as my favorite week of the year is officially over until 2013.
Not much, but here are a few tidbits.
Tom Cullen will have a new driver aboard the seat of his #1wgc modifieds in 2013. While a driver has yet to be named, Stewart Friesen will not return to the seat of the car he claimed his second consecutive Utica Rome Speedway championship with. The seat seems to be down to just 2 drivers, one of Cullen's former drivers in Willy Decker and Bobby Varin.
Look for Stewart Friesen to get a few more runs in the Vinnie Salerno #4 car in 2013. Friesen debuted in the car normally piloted by Tim McCreadie at the Freedom 76er after his own small block was damaged the week prior.
Following a solid season on the asphalt at Thunder Alley Speedway Park in 2012 with his dirt modifieds, and a miserable Super DIRT Week, Tony Steiner is selling out of dirt modified racing to focus on asphalt racing.
Mike Bowman (Merrittville regular, not to be confused with Fulton/Brewerton regular Mike Bowman) will have a big block at his disposal for the World Finals. It will be Bowman's first run with a big block under the hood, despite picking up a Super DIRTcar Series win earlier this season against the big blocks at Merrittville Speedway.
As announced at Syracuse, New Egypt Speedway will return to the Super DIRTcar Series in 2013. Look for at least one more track to return to the schedule after being off for a few years, and also look for a former DIRTcar-sanctioned track to return to DIRTcar sanctioning.
