The clay will return to Devil's Bowl Speedway for the first time in 5 years. Mike Bruno announced at the Vermont track's awards banquet that the asphalt will remain on the track for weekly competition, but the track would then be covered in dirt for 3 late-season events (September 26, October 4, and October 18.) The modified division will be part of at least 2, but could be on the card for all 3-events.
Bruno also announced some dates for some big races for the dirt modified division on the asphalt. Season will open May 16, the "C.J. Richards Memorial 67" will take place on August 1st, and the champions will be crowned during the "Vermont 200 Weekend" on September 14.
The inaugural season for the Short Track Super Nationals is set to kick off at Orange County Fair Speedway in less than 2 months, and already 13 drivers have announced their plans to follow the entire tour in 2014. Duane Howard, Jeff Heotzler, Tim Hindley, Ryan Watt, Danny Creeden, Anthony Perrego, Brett Tonkin, Justin Holland, Danny Tyler, Elmo Reckner, Ray Jashembowski, Donnie Elliott, and Darrell Ford.
Mercer Raceway Park's biggest race of the season for the small block modifieds, the "Little Guy Nationals", will be held on September 26-27. Mercer was also once again included on the schedule when the BRP Modified Tour released their schedule last week, hosting a 2-day show July 12-13. Mercer's full schedule should be released this week.
