CVRA vs. The World

Well, tonight is the biggest race of the year at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, the CVRA vs. The World 100 for big and small block modifieds, paying $8,000 to the winner. It marks the return of this race after being off the schedule for a few years. Not only will it be a huge race for the track, but it will be the biggest race of the summer until the Forrest Rogers Memorial in August at Grandview Speedway. An all-star field has already been established, with some unknowns expected to enter. Drivers that will be in attendance include big-name Albany regulars Brett Hearn, Jeff Trombley, Mike Perrotte, Ronnie Johnson, Jack Johnson, Matt DeLorenzo, Dave Camara, Kenny Tremont, invaders like Pat Ward, Mike Ricci, Billy Decker, Larry Wight, Gary Tomkins, Frank Cozze, Lance Willix, Ray Hoard, A.J. Romano, Brian Weaver plus other guys who can sneak in a win like Marc Johnson, Vince Quenville, Frank Hoard, Mike Ronca, Don Ronca, Todd Stone, Ron and John Proctor, Jim Cottrell, and a slew of young guns like Tony Kawalchuk, Dustin DeLaney, Brett Graham, Keith Flach, Danny Varin, and top it all off with the return of former track champion Bob Savoie and you have an incredible show on your hands.

I'd love to make the trip but I'll be stuck at work, so my official pick to win is Kenny Tremont. The guys knows how to win these extra distance shows at Albany, and is one of the best there is on the CVRA tour. My sleeper pick is Brian Weaver, the 2006 RoC winner at the track has always ran good and outran Brett Hearn in a great battle for the win.
