DJ Teaming with Forte?

Looks like Danny Johnson may be driving for Mark Forte at Orange County tomorrow night. Danny left JIR Motorsports earlier in the week. Forte is taking 2 cars to Orange County tomorrow, one for himself, and the other possibly for Johnson.

Friesen Done with Hansell

Stewart Friesen will now no longer be driving for Stewart Friesen this weekend, or for the Chad Miller Race. Friesen decided he wants to stay home this weekend and run for the $5,000 to win modified race at Fonda Speedway, instead of making the tow to Grandview, which upset car owner Norm Hansell. Friesen will continue to run weekly at Utica Rome with his own #1, and will pick and choose other specials throughout the rest of the season. Rick Schaffer will continue to drive the Norm Hansell mount.

Specials I missed...

Sorry, but I missed 2 specials being run this weekend. Bridgeport will have their 4-dozen which will be for the big block modifieds, there will be 4 features at 12 laps each. Also, Albany Saratoga has their 2nd 100 lapper of the year with the CVRA.com 100. Finally, Fonda Speedway will be having their $5,000 to win special sponsored by BBL.

Pat Ward opened up his RoC Dirt Tour points lead with a $4,000 triumph at Penn Can Speedway on Wednesday night. Ward also won this race last season. The top 5 was Ward over Stewart Friesen, Dan Vauter, Jeff Rudalavage, and Joey Grammes.

Also worth noting that Bob Henry has taken over for Danny Varin in the Masagarus #93 for weekly competition at Fonda.

Danny Johnson Done at JIR

For the 2nd time in 3 years, Danny Johnson has quit the JIR Racing Team. Johnson, who currently sits in 9th in Super Dirt Series points with 3 top 5s and 4 top 10s, and picked up a win at Utica Rome's Victoria 200 that payed him $10,000 to win. He's also been making select Late Model starts with the team. Danny currently has no ride with the exception of the Mike Payne 358 modified, which he'll be running part-time, splitting his time this year in the car with Gary Tomkins. Joe Isabell, Jeff Isabell, Jeff Isabell Jr, Sean Beardsley, and Johnny Hill will continue to pilot JIR cars, at least on a part-time basis, for the rest of the year. Stayed tuned for Danny Johnson news.

Swartzlander Takes Tyler County, Sunday night Winners

I forgot to mention in the Saturday night winners that the only big block modified race in West Virgina was won by Brian Swartzlander who extended his points lead in the BRP Modified Tour. According to our own Josh Bayko on Dirt Track Digest, Swartzlander started 23rd and picked up the win.

Stewart Friesen won at Utica Rome and broke Pat Ward's hot streak, Robert King picked up a popular win at Devils Bowl, Alex Fortier picked up an exciting win at Cornwall, and I also forgot to mention that Brian Swartzlander also notched off the win at Lernerville on Friday night.

Friday/Saturday Modified Winners

Friday night saw; Jeff Strunk open up his points lead at Big Diamond with a win, Pete Bicknell adds another win to his list of accomplishments with another win at Ransomville, Joey Grammes picked up another win at Penn Can, defending champion Willy Decker picked up a big win at Brewerton, Mel Schruffer pulled off the upset win at Accord, Lee Ladouceur won at Edelweiss, and Matt DeLorenzo picked up his 2nd win of the year at Albany.

Saturday night saw a lot of rain, but of the tracks that did run, Jamie Mills ended H.J. Bunting's hot-streak with a win at Delaware, Jeff Heotzler won his 2nd race in a row at Orange County, Craig Von Dohren completed his big week with a win at Grandview, Donnie Ackner picked up the popular win in race #2 of the King of the Valley series at Lebanon Valley, Tad Cox, Tim Tanner, Rick Laubach, won the first 3 features at New Egypt, and Keith Hoffman won the final feature at New Egypt which netted him $5,000, and Jimmy Chester picked up his 1st win of the season with a win at Bridgeport. Stayed tuned for Sunday night's winners!

King of the Valley news, David Hebert wins at Granby

Also worth noting that race #2 of the innagural King of the Valley mini series will be run Saturday night at Lebanon Valley. Kenny Tremont took race 1 of the 4 race series. A $4,000 bonus will go to the points leader of those 4 races, and they'll be crowned King of the Valley.

Congratulations to David Hebert for winning race #1 of the Canadian Dirt Series at Autodrome Granby. The 100 lap big block win put $3,000 in his pocket. The 5 other races will be run within the next week, all of which are 100 laps and $3,000 to win.

Another Driver Sidelined with Injury

Following the news a few days about that A.J. Romano will be out of action for most, if not all, of 2008 due to injury that needs surgery, another modified star will be out of action for most of the year. Steve Durand, former Orange County regular and current Bridgeport big block regular, will be out of action for most of the year from the Thorton Race #924 big block modified due to back surgery. Durand is a feature winner already this year at Bridgeport, and also picked up a win last year in his first season driving for the Thorton team. Get well soon Steve! Expect to see Durand back in the seat in the final weeks of the Bridgeport season.

Von Dohren takes Race for a Cure

Craig Von Dohren took the $4,000 win at Bridgeport Speedway Wednesday night in the MS Race for a Cure big block 40 lap feature. He also picked up $50 for every lap he led. John Stangle picked up the small block win worth $2,500 for 25 laps.

Rain Dates and Thunder Mountain News

After Utica Rome rained out for their RoC Dirt Tour Racing tonight (Wednesday, July 23rd) they've resceduled their race for August 13th. The problem with this for Thunder Mountain Speedway is that is the day their lone modified race of the year is scheduled, as the T3 All-Star Small Block Series was scheduled to come to town that day. Now, the date for that event has been pushed back one week to August 20th.

Bridgeport also cancelled the MS Race For a Cure event which was supposed to race tonight. It will now be run tomorrow, July 24th.

When Stewart Friesen returns to the Norm Hansell owned #357 for special events at both Grandview and Big Diamond, look for the team to enter two cars, and Rick Schaffer, who has been driving since Friesen's suspension, will be behind the wheel of the 2nd car.

Updated Chad Miller Memorial info

Folks, the list just keeps getting bigger and bigger as to what sponsors are coming on board for the Chad Miller Memorial Race at Big Diamond Raceway on August 8th....Kauffman's Chicken BBQ has come on board in a BIG WAY for this special event....Some notes to add about what will be happening on race night at the track....There will be a pre-race party on the granstands side, and BDR co-announcer Pete Knappenberger will be the DJ/host of the party, joining Pete will be the Racer's Rountable Girls also....Miss AARN Alyssa Sharman will be on hand for this special night....News comes out today that there will be an auction held on race night for the Chad Miller Memorial Race, a few items have already been donated....A piece of sheet metal off of the #126 car autographed by Jeff Strunk will be up for auction....Check this out, a 2008 BDR t-shirt autographed by all of the WoO Late Model drivers that raced at BDR in June will be up for bid....A Roush/Fenway t-shirt has been donated for the auction, and the shirt is autographed by Nascar drivers David Ragan ad Jamie McMurray.

There is still time for anyone who wants to come on board as a sponsor, BIG or SMALL, it doesn't matter....Lap sponsors for the race are going for $10 each, JUST TEN BUCKS and you too can help make the 2008 Chad Miller Memorial Race bigger and better than last years....Please contact Brad Reinhert @ (717) 278-1036 if you would like to be a part of this special event, HE'll HOOK YOU UP.

Troy Wink not done yet!

After announcing his retirement, Troy Wink has announced he will continue racing for the rest of the year and beyond after a slew of people begging him to keep racing. Troy is probably the most improved driver this year, moving up 15 spots in the points standings to just outside the top 10 at Big Diamond over the past few weeks. Special thanks to T.J. Wink, Troy's son, who also drives every once in a while in the team's #127 small block, for a nice letter on SJDR directed to his dad. I know he did more to get his dad back racing than anyone else.

Randy Ross update, This week in racing, Syracuse Tidbits

This week is a big week in the modified racing world. On Wednesday, the RoC Dirt Tour will be at Utica Rome Speedway for the Richie Evans Memorial which pays $6,161.61 to win for 61 laps. Also on Wednesday, July 23rd, will be the MS Race For a Cure Race at Bridgeport Speedway which is a 40 lap race paying $4,000 to win, which includes a $50 bonus for each lap led, which could result in the race winner taking home as much at $6,000. Then, for the weekend, New Egypt will be holding their annual Friends of Mike show, which will be highlighted by 4-20 lap features for the big block modifieds which pay $2,000 to win the 1st feature, $2,000 to win the 2nd feature, $2,000 to win the 3rd feature, and $5,000 to win the 4th feature. Also on Saturday, the BRP Modified Tour will be heading to West Virginia at the Tyler County Speedway for their 4th race of the season.

Randy Ross, who sold most of his equipment after the 2008 Florida Dirt Tour, is currently in talks with Jimmy Horton about a possible deal for Super Dirt Week. Horton would supply the motor and Ross would supply the car.

Mitch Gibbs will be running the big block portion of Super Dirt Week in the Gary Mann owned #55, which brings the number of confirmed drivers for Syracuse this year in the big block division to Mitch Gibbs, Frankie Caprara, Ronnie Johnson, Steve Paine, Matt Sheppard, Rick Laubach, Alan Johnson, Brett Hearn, Danny Johnson, Keith Flach, Dave Rauscher, Billy Dunn, Dale Planck, Gary Tomkins, Billy Decker, Jimmy Phelps, Larry Wight, Ryan Phelps, Wayne Jelley, Mark Forte Jr, Justin Haers, and Duane Howard.

As for the small block portion of Syracuse, the list of confirmed drivers at this point includes Doug Manmiller, Chad Brachmann, Joe Williams, Rick Laubach, Todd Burley, Larry Wight, Frankie Caprara, Wayne Jelley, Lance Willix, and Ronnie Johnson. Obviously, there are other drivers who we'll assume will be there, such as Pat Ward, Pete Bicknell, etc, but we haven't been able to talk with them yet, so we can't confirm them on here.

Doug Hoffman to return?

Looks like Doug Hoffman, who came out of retirement to win 4 features at Bridgeport last year with the DeBruno Racing #0 big block only to lose his ride which has left him without a start thus far into 2008, will make his first start of the year at the Friends of Mike 4-20 lappers at New Egypt Speedway on July 26th driving a 2nd Rich Rutski entry. Along with the talented weekly field which includes Billy Pauch, Keith Hoffman, and Frank Cozze, invaders scheduled to be racing include last year's track points champion Matt Sheppard, Glen Ridge points leader Jeff Brownell, Big Diamond points leader Duane Howard, and Super Dirt Series star Dale Planck, who will more than likely be behind the wheel of a Mark Forte modified. Kenny Brightbill, Doug Hoffman, and Brett Hearn may also be in attendance, more to come later.

Alan Johnson and Mike Romano to team with Jake Spraker/Jimmy Phelps news

Jake Spraker isn't quite done yet. Spraker will field a big block #1J for Alan Johnson at Utica Rome's RoC Richie Evans Memorial this coming Wednesday, July 23rd. It's also worth nothing that Alan Johnson has a special one-of-a-kind brand new Teo from Randy Sherlock's race team that will debut July 31st at Orange County. Sherlock shook the car down this past Saturday.

However, the bigger news out of the Spraker camp is that Mike Romano will be coming out of retirement on August 5th for the Fonda NMX Series race as the fan favorite will strap himself behind the wheel of the Spraker 1J for his last drive ever in a modified.

Jimmy Phelps will run 2 races in Australia this winter driving for an Australian Troyer dealer. Last year Gary Tomkins ran down there and had great success. The races will be in late January.

Mike Ricci/Kenny Brightbill/Troy Wink/Georgetown news

Mike Ricci has found a ride for the rest of the year at Accord Speedway along with specials with the Mastrocola Racing Team #10 modified. Jerry Curry was driving for them but will no longer be driving for the team, but he will remain affiliated with the team. Ricci will drive for the team at a couple specials near the end of the year along with Accord. Ricci sold his #1R that he picked up a win with at Glen Ridge and Accord this year.

Kenny Brightbill may be returning for the Friends of Mike race at New Egypt, Chad Sinon called about sponsoring him again, but right now Kenny is taking the engine apart making sure nothing is hurt after the belt came off the oil-pump at Georgetown. Props to Kenny for having a solid return!

Troy Wink announced his retirement from racing after a run-in with Bobby Gunther-Walsh, and then Big Diamond co-owner Dave Dissinger who made a rude comment to one of the nice guys of the sport. Troy Wink may make his return, but it may not be at Big Diamond, or Grandview. Look for a possibly Five Mile Point run for Troy Wink. Don't leave Troy, we need guys like you in the sport!

It's also worth noting that both H.J. Bunting and Jamie Mills, who finished 1st and 2nd in the Super Dirt Series race at Georgetown Speedway had motors and side-panels that would be illegal at any of Dirt Series race. Dirt opened up the rules a little bit for the Delaware International drivers to be able to run the race. It paid off for the top 2, congrats to Mills and especially Bunting. It's also worth noting that last week H.J. Bunting also won the Saturday night race at Delaware International and the Camp Barnes race at Delaware, which has netted him well over $10,000 in the past 3 races. Looks like the defending Delaware champion got hot at the right time.

Big Diamond notes from 7/18

Just some notes from the action on the track at the NEW BDR Friday night....It was a SBM/URC 2 divisions show and the fans LOVE these 2 division shows as the place was PACKED with fans....The feature race action for both divisions didn't disappoint....In the URC race, 16yr old David Gavel from Ct. was AWESOME, he just checked out, only to later be DQ'd for a rules infraction....This gave the win to the 2nd car that went under the checkered flag, Jason Clauss in the #08, he also was fast all night....It was Clauss's 2nd career URC win at BDR I believe....Becca Anderson was putting on a show in her black #17, she was rim riding the top of the raceway on her way to 2nd place, the fans LOVED IT....Curt Michael gets the "never quit" award of the night....In his heat, the 5G just wasn't up to snuff, in the consi he breaks, he then uses a provisional to start the feature....Man was he on a mission, charging his way to the front, WITHOUT a front wing, IMPRESSIVE to say the least, bring home a 3rd place finish....31 URC sprints filled the pits, and it was GREAT to see some winged sprint cars back at BDR, hoping they return in '09.

The sbm feature had some INCREDIBLE racing once again....Ray Swinehart seemed to have them all covered in hisyellow #33, but with about 5 laps to go, from the grandstands, yo could see there was something wrong with the rear in the #33, about 2 laps later, it broke, ending Swinehart's run for his first win of the season at BDR, the #33 was plenty fast enough to get the job done....Jeff Strunk took the checkered flag and brought home win #2 for the #126 team at BDR....Folks, one of the most INCREDIBLE races I've seen all year took place last night....There was a 3 car battle going on for 2nd place last night that showed what dirt track is all about, the players were Mike Nicholas, Craig Von Dohren and Duane Howard....There 3 guys put a show on that had the crowd on their feet....I'm talking side by side racing, spots being shuffled EVERY LAP, sprint car style slide jobs being thrown, it was AWESOME, all of it clean, NO CONTACT....Mike Nicholas finally took the spot, with CVD 3rd, Howard 4th, and Pauch Jr took 5th....It was fan pleasing to say the least....Jordan Umbenhauer made his first start in a 358 sbm last night, driving his dad's red #19 (the spts were off, they'll be running at BDR tomorrow night, along with the rr's and lmtd late models)....Jordan won the consi and brought home a very respectable 13th place finsih, GOOD JOB by Jordan....A new entrant was at BDR making his first start of the year, it was the red #20 of Eric Kocher, he looked decent in warm ups, but then was a scratch for the rest of the night with mechanical problems....Two guys missing last night from the sbm field that have been at every show up until last nights, Terry Meitzler and Sean Merkel....Word has it Meitzler blew the motor the previous week and could be out of action at BDR till around Coal Cracker time....As for the #118, no "official" word as to why the MIA, but a bad crash at Gview last week and some mid week racing this week, COULD have been a factor the #118 wasn't in the pits.

Right now at BDR there is an issue going on with the race track surface, mostly, for the heat race action....As the new clay in turn 1 and going into 2, just doesn't want to knit properly, as it seems to just peel up every week and make it pretty rough and tumble for heat race action....Come feature time though, the track, it seems, to be VERY GOOD, as the racing has been OUTSTANDING come feature time....Even last night winner Jeff Strunk in VL commented that the surface was AWESOME for the feature, gave some props to the track crew for making it that way, but he also mentioned that it was rough at the start (heats) but widened out and was AWESOME for the feature....It's the tale of 2 tracks every week it seems at BDR, the bad one for the heats, the great one for the feature....Hopefully help will be sought out and it will be better for the heats, and remain AWESOME for the feature, only time will tell.

Specials This Week...

Well, this week we've got two big Super Dirt Series races for the southern states. Tonight, Grandview Speedway has their 100 lapper paying $6,000 to win, and tomorrow Georgetown has their 75 lapper paying $6,000 to win. The only other special show for modifieds this week is at Accord Speedway, as they have the Joe Winne Memorial which pays $2,500 to win for 55 laps. Be sure to support racing somewhere! Have a great week of racing.

Friesen not done with 357, Pat O'Brien news...

Stewart Friesen will return to the Norm Hansell #357 for select races at Grnadview, starting with the Forrest Rogers Memorial which pays $10,000 to win for 50 laps on August 2nd. Rick Schaffer will continue driving the car when Friesen isn't available.

Pat O'Brien is now done following the Super Dirt Series tour. After a slow start he decided that it's not worth following the tour and struggling the way he has been. He'll continue to hit a few Dirt Series shows.

In other news, as you probably know, Brad Brightbill will be driving for Jeremy Banos the rest of the year at Grandview after his owner MICK Enterprises left the sport for personal reasons. Brad's brother Keith drove the car off and on over the past 2 years.

Thursday's Winners- Bunting takes Delaware, Decker wins SDS at Brockville

H.J. Bunting picked up a big win in the Camp Barnes at Delaware International Thursday night, leading all 36 laps, netting him nearly $1,300 in lap money along with the $3,500 top prize. Bunting was able to hold off invaders Wade Hendrickson and Rick Laubach, who finished 2nd and 3rd in Thursday's feature.

At Brockville Speedway, Billy Decker continued his amazing season by picking up the $6,000 feature win extending his series points lead. Series regulars claimed the top 3 spots with Jimmy Phelps and Steve Paine rounding out the top 3. The series now heads to the very fast Autodrome Granby tomorrow night.

Another note, I won't be home this weekend, I'll be turning 19 on July 13th, so Happy Birthday to me. That means I won't be able to do my weekly notes listing winners and so on until Sunday night. Have a great weekend and enjoy the races!

Norm Hansell news...

BDR this Friday....Things to look for

This weeks action at BDR is only a couple of days away, here's a few things to look for....

Ryan Godown and the R1 team took a Friday off a few weeks ago, they were back last week and Godown had the R1 looking VERY SOLID in his heat race action, running side by side, wheel to wheel with Duane Howard and the #4....Feature time rolled around and I was really excited to see what Godown was going to do, but on lap 1, he got bottled up in a tangle and had the right rear wheel ripped off, ending his night WAY TOO early, I'm anxious to see how he does this week, as it seemed the R1 had a GOOD set up in it....stay tuned.

Ryan Watt has had some tough luck lately in the red Purcell #6 lately....Well last week the "tough luck" followed them again in heat race action....Luckily the Purcell team is local at BDR, they ran home and brought the blue #6 to the track, which I think was only run 1 other time this season, and Watt started the race at the rear after taking the last spot in the consi....One word, WOW, did Watt ever put a show on during the Stevenson Memorial, as he battled his way to a 6th place finish using a thrilling style, the fans were loving it....Curious to see what Watt does this Friday, hopefully the blue #6 will be brought to the raceway this week.

Craig Von Dohren has had nothing but rotten luck at BDR this season....He should have 2 wins at the place, but that "luck" and other racers problems have prevented that....So this week Mike Harvey and CVD announce they are scrapping their big block plans for now, and they are taking the new TEO chassis that was to be run as the BB, and making that car their new Friday night BDR car, parking the chassis that they have been using there....Looking forward to seeing how this "switch" works out for CVD this week.

Troy Wink has been on a roll lately at BDR....Ever since they brought out a new TEO car a few weeks ago, Troy has been running up front and finishing in the top 10, last week he brought home his first top 5 at the place since 1988....Wondering if he keeps it going this week.

Earl Paules has been ABSOLUTELY DOMINATE in the BDR spts division, everyone every week just waits to see if he keeps it going, so far he's showed no signs of slowing down, maybe this week, probably NOT.

Kyle Weiss has heard his share rumblings about his return to BDR this year and him competing in the spts division after being a feature winner in the sbm ranks over the years at tracks like BDR, Gview and Susky....Well Kyle is leading the spts points right now, but "talk" has it he had to return his borrowed spts motor he's been running lately....Word is out that Kyle might be forced to give up his point lead, put his sbm motor he has at the shop in the his 21K for Friday nights and make the move up....But reports today have Weiss maybe getting a helping hand from friend and fellow competitor Andy Miller for this week, talk has it Weiss might be behind the wheel of Miller's 164th....We'll see.

This Friday night at BDR there will be a special race for the Road runner division, as they will have their normal heat and feature race, but there will be a special challenge race added for this division....Word has it that is will be a series of 1 lap match races for the top 8 in points....Thsi will interesting to say the VERY LEAST, as the RR division this year at BDR has just been tremendous....Every week there is a pack of 6-7 cars going for the top spot all race long, it's WILD and the fans love it....Needless to say, some SERIOUS bragging rights will be on the line this Friday night when the challenge is over, as there are some heated rivalries in the RR pits each week

The weather looks to be GREAT this Friday, so if ya can, get out to the NEW BDR, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO WANT TO MISS thsi weeks action, TRUST ME.

Weaver takes Five Mile Point RoC Race, Brad Brightbill done

Brian Weaver won the RoC 75 lap big block modified event at Five Mile Point Speedway on Tuesday night, giving him $4,000. Weaver led every lap of the feature. Despite the tough start to the Penn Can season, Weaver leads points at Five Mile Point and has 2 weekly wins to now go along with his RoC win. Pat Ward finished 5th which lead to him to open up his points lead on the field.

Brad Brightbill will be parking his small block modified for the rest of the year due to sponsorship problems. Brad currently sits 16th in points at Grandview. He's seeking a ride of the rest of the season. He'll continue to run his sportsman on Friday nights at Big Diamond, where he sits 2nd in points.

Wago driver AJ Romano will be out of action possibly for the rest of the season with back and neck problems, and will need to have surgery to heal properly. Romano has been having a solid year, despite leaving weekly action at Albany a few weeks ago. Get well soon AJ, we can't wait to see that #16 back on the track soon!

Big week of racing this week, RoC Dirt Tour runs at Five Mile Point Speedway on Tuesday night with a 75 lap $4,000 to win show. Kenny Brightbill news...

Kenny Brightbill was originally planning on making his first appearance of the year in his familiar #19 at Grandview Speedway on July 16th, and run the following night on July 17th. However, after Kenny got the car ready to go, his sponsor fell through leaving him with a car ready to go, but not being able to afford getting to the racetrack, which was going to lead him to not being able to attend either show. However, he has now secured a sponsor to run these two races in less than 2 weeks. Chad Sinon will be sponsoring the #19 for these two races, which is going to allow us to see Brightbill in action both nights. Props go out to Chad for stepping up to the plate and helping a racer in need when nobody else would. Thanks Chad for getting Kenny back on track, you're a class act despite what some people seem to think without ever talking to you.

Stewart Friesen out of Hansell 357

Well, Stewart Friesen is out of the Norm Hansell #357. After a tough weekend which included two disagreements with people in two nights. No word on who will take over in the 357 yet, stay tuned.

It's coming...The Chad Miller Memorial Race

On August 8th at the Big Diamond Raceway, another VERY SPECIAL race will take place for the second year in a row....That race will be the Chad Miller Memorial Race....On the racing card that night will be the three regular divisions that race weekly at BDR, the SBM's, the Spts mods, and the ever popular Road Runners, all three will compete in qualifying races and feature events.
Here is where we need YOU, sponsors, BIG or SMALL, it really doesn't matter....Last years race was a HUGE success because of people coming on board and making this race a huge success....Right now, Penske Racing Shocks are back to sponsor the special Cash Dash for the sbm's paying a cool $1000 to win, not too bad for a cash dash eh....We are asking anyone who wants to come aboard and be a part of the Chad Miller Memorial as a race sponsor to please contact Brad Reinert at (717) 278-1036 or Ben Moyer at (717) 679-4816, these two guys will HOOK YOU UP....Also, lap sponsors for the feature race are being taken for $10 a lap for the feature race, JUST $10 and you can help make this race BIGGER and BETTER than last year....Also, Bob Weaver Chevrolet of Pottsville Pa has stepped up BIG TIME this year....They provide the pace truck for the BDR, well this year that very truck is going to be raffled off to a VERY LUCKY winner....The truck is a '08 Silver Chevy 4x4 Ext Cab, VERY NICE....You can get your tickets at the track, also, all of the money brought in by the raffle for the truck will go to the Chad Miller Memorial Scholarship Fund....The truck will be raffled off as part off the Diamond Nationals on September 28, and get this, the winning number will drawn by matching the Pa Lottery that night, COOL IDEA....On race night, there will also be a collection that will happen throughout the grandstands and the money collected will also go to the scholarship fund.
So folks, we need as many people as we can get to help make this years Chad Miller Memorial race another HUGE SUCCESS....Remember, the more money we can collect and raise through sponsors, the more money will be able to pay out to the racers.
Mark it on your calendar NOW, put in your vacation slips, do whatever you have to do, but PLEASE plan on coming to the Big Diamond Raceway on August 8th and help support this INCREDIBLE race, the Chad Miller Memorial Race.

Decker wins Ransomville

Billy Decker is unstoppable. He's easily the hottest driver on dirt right now, and added to his win total with a win in the Super Dirt Series race at Ransomville Speedway Thursday night. Not only did he pick up the win, he opened up his points lead big time with Dale Planck having problems and not being able to finish the race.

While Decker was able to pick up the win, the real winner was Robbie Krull. The Ransomville/Merrittville regular had an incredible night picking up by far his best tour finish with a 2nd place. After starting on the outside of the front row after a strong heat run, Krull used his small block engine to take the lead and lead most of the first 1/4 of the race. Congrats Robbie on a great race. While outside of the northern part of the NY/Southern Canada Krull is relatively unknown, he's one of the biggest stars up there. He is always in contention for the points title at Ransomville, and usually notches off at least a win at Merrittville every year. He's just another example of being a very talented driver not known by much of the racing community due to not being able to afford to travel. Some more fans now know the name Robbie Krull after last night.

Tuesday Night Grandview Notes

Looks as if MICK Enterprises is now done giving money to Brad Brightbill. This could eventually mark the end of Brad racing on Saturday nights. Doug Manmiller took home the win at Grandview Speedway Tuesday night for the Thunder on the Hill small block modified/sprint car speedweek race. Invaders that were in attendance included Matt Sheppard, Rick Laubach, Billy Pauch Jr, Duane Howard, and Ryan Watt.
