Weekend Re-cap from Huge Fourth of July Weekend

I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July weekend and saw some great racing action. Mother Nature once again cancelled some big races, but thankfully most racing got in from this weekend. Let's see who won and where they won at.

On Friday, July 3rd, the big block Super Dirt Series invaded Ransomville Speedway where current points leader Brett Hearn picked up the $6,000 feature win. In other big block action from Friday, Accord Speedway finally got another race in, and David Bush went on to pick up the win, Kenny Tremont took advantage of Hearn being at Ransomville with another win at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, Brian Swartzlander picked up the win at Lernerville Speedway, Craig Terrell picked up his second win of the year at Penn Can Speedway, and J.R. Crouse won his third in a row at Redline Raceway. The only small block race to be run on Friday night was the Georgie Stevenson Memorial at Big Diamond Raceway which paid $4,000 to win the 40 lap feature, Keith Hoffman finally ended his tough season with a huge win in that race.

On Saturday, July 4th, the Super Dirt Series had their second race of the weekend as they headed to Fulton Speedway, this time it was Alan Johnson who went on to claim the top prize. The Tri-Track Series was also in action on Saturday night as the big blocks battled for $3,000 to win the 40 lap feature at New Egypt Speedway, this time it was Jimmy Horton picking up his second win of the tour. In other big block action from Saturday night, Mitch Gibbs and Rick Mill split feature as racing finally returned to Orange County Fair Speedway. Matt DeLorenzo stopped, at least for now, the dominance by Bobby Varin, by picking up the win at Fonda Speedway. Lebanon Valley Speedway saw their feature go non-stop and Steve Hough went on to capture the win. Airborne Speedway saw defending track champion Patrick Dupree go on and collect the big win, and at Mahoning Valley Speedway it was Randy Thomas picked up the dirt modified win. In small block action from Saturday, Jeff Strunk continued his hot-streak by picking up his second win in a row at Grandview Speedway, Billy Van Pelt won his third race of the year at Woodhull Raceway, and Chris Steele picked up another win at Merrittville Speedway.

On Sunday, July 5th, it was the BRP Tour that took center stage as they invaded Tri-City Speedway, Dave Murdick overcame mechanical problems early in the night to collect the big win in the annual Kodiak Memorial. In other big block action from Sunday night, Kenny Tremont won yet again at Devils Bowl Speedway, Bobby Varin added again to his 2009 win total with a win at Utica Rome Speedway, and in small block action from Sunday night Tim O'Brien went on to win at Cornwall Motor Speedway.

It's another big week in modified racing, on Tuesday, July 7th, there are two big races for the big block modifieds. At Sharon Speedway, it's the Lou Blaney Memorial, and the big blocks will battle for $3,000 to win the 30 lap feature. At Delaware International Raceway, it's the annual Camp Barnes Benefit Race as the big blocks battle for $3,400 to win the 35 lap feature. Then, on Wednesday night, July 8th, the RoC Dirt Tour invades Five Mile Point Speedway for 75 laps $4,000 to win. On Thursday night, the Super Dirt Series kicks off the Canadian Tour at Brockville-Ontario Speedway, as they battle for 100 laps and $6,000 to win. On Friday, the Dirt Series invades Granby, followed up by a stop at Drummondville on Saturday night, and rounding off the tour is the Series race at Cornwall Motor Speedway.
