This Weekend In Racing

Hopefully the weather cooperates a bit better than last weekend, and we can all enjoy a nice night at the races. Here's what's going on this weekend for the big and small block modifieds.

On Friday, Mohawk International Speedway will have twin features for the small block modified divsion, one of which will be the regular scheduled and the other will be a 20-lap feature post poned from last week. Autodrome Edelweiss will open up their season with a 50 lap feature for the small block modifieds that will give the winner a guarenteed starting spot for the small block portion of Super Dirt Week. I88 Speedway (formally Afton Speedway) will re-open on Friday and will have big block modifieds on the card for the first time in a few years. Also on Friday, Lernerville Speedway, Big Diamond Raceway, Glen Ridge Motorsports Park, Albany-Saratoga Speedway, Penn Can Speedway, Accord Speedway, Ransomville Speedway, Brewerton Speedway, and Autodrome Granby will all be running their normal weekly programs.

On Saturday night, the biggest race of the entire weekend will be run, as Fonda Speedway has the first ever Lou Lazzaro Memorial which will pay $4,444 to win the 40-lap event for the big block modifieds. Brockville-Ontario Speedway opens the season up with a Syracuse qualifier for the small block modifieds. Autodrome Drummond will have their season-opener for the small block modifieds. Delaware International Speedway will have the roofs off of the big block modifieds for the night, as all divisions will run topless. Orange County Fair Speedway will be giving away a guarenteed starting spot for the Friends of Mike race at New Egypt in July. Lebanon Valley Speedway will see the small block modifieds kick off their season at the high banks, big block modifieds will also be on the card. Grandview Speedway, New Egypt Speedway, Five Mile Point Speedway, Fulton Speedway, Canandaigua Speedway, Merrittville Speedway, Sharon Speedway, Mercer Raceway Park, Mahoning Valley Speedway, Woodhull Raceway, Airborne Speedway, and Bridgeport Speedway will all be running normal weekly shows.

On Sunday night, Cornwall Speedway opens up the season with twin-25 lap features for the small block modifieds, while Utica Rome Speedway, Humberstone Speedway, Tri-City Speedway, and Cayuga County Fair Speedway all have normal shows scheduled for this weekend.
