Higbie Out Laubach In; Perrego Notes; Schedule Updates

Defending Orange County Fair Speedway big-block champion Jerry Higbie has parted ways with car owned Gary Mann. Higbie was piloting Mann's #55 modifieds weekly at Accord Speedway, while also hitting select specials. Higbie has collected a couple of wins with the Mann team at Accord this season, including this past Friday.

For Tuesday's $5,100 to win Battle of the Bullring, Mann has hired Rick Laubach to pilot one of 2 cars that will be entered. Sportsman standout Anthony Perrego was previously announced to run a second Gary Mann for the race. No word on a full-time replacement for Higbie, although Mike Ricci's name has been thrown around now that Mike Wells has returned to the seat of the 831, leaving Ricci rideless. Mitch Gibbs has also been mentioned.

As far as Higbie, along with having his own #97 equipment, rumors are swirling that he will return to the Mike Petruska Racing #66. The team has ran a couple of races with Danny Johnson since parting ways with Bobby Varin.

Look for Perrego to do select modified racing towards the end of the year. He will enter a back-up Randy Sherlock Racing #10 in hopes of qualifying for the Eastern States 200, and is also working on finalizing a 358 ride for select end of the year races.

Big Diamond has announced the "Prelude to the Coalcracker" on August 23rd. The 30-lapper will pay $4,000 to win.

Glen Ridge Motorsports Park has also announced their biggest race of the season will take place on September 7th. The 60-lap feature will pay $4,007 to the winner.

Speaking of schedules, there are 3 mid-week shows this week. First, tonight (Monday) the Super DIRTcar Series invades Merrittville Speedway for the annual Bob St. Amand Memorial. Tomorrow (Tuesday) a pair of big races are on tap. The Suer DIRTcar Series heads to Michigan as they invade I-96 Speedway for a $7,500 payday, while closer to home, Accord Speedway will host the "Battle of the Bullring" which will pay $5,100 to the winner of the 51-lap event.

Weekend results and the updated win list will be posted tonight.
