Bobby Varin will return to one of his more prominent rides in this Wednesday night's RoC Dirt Tour event at Utica Rome Speedway. Varin will replace Stewart Friesen aboard the Jake Spraker Racing #1J for the remainder of 2013, running a specials only schedule. Spraker's team had been running weekly at Albany-Saratoga with Friesen, but has yet to pick up a win in 2013. A practice crash Thursday night at Lebanon Valley resulted in the combination splitting, opening the door for Varin.
Varin will remain with Erik Nelson's #85 team for the remainder of the season at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park, where he currently leads points. Varin also will run select races for Joey Decker Racing and Dover Brake Motorsports to close out the year.
Chad Brachmann will be making his return to the Syracuse mile this October, as he plans on attending Super DIRT Week with a big block and a small block at his disposal. Brachmann will be aboard his own #3 in the Salute to the Troops 150, but has landed a ride for the SEF 200. The plan is to not announce the new ride until the car is at inspection Tuesday at Super DIRT Week.
Jimmy Horton, who had already confirmed his plans to run Syracuse with a big block, has now confirmed he'll have a 358 for the Salute to the Troops 150 as well. Both will be for Dieter Schmidt Racing.
Lance Willix, who recently returned to the seat after missing a few weeks for emergency surgery, has confirmed he'll be at Syracuse with a big block.
