More Tidbits

Here are some more tidbits I've collected since getting home from the races this weekend.

As I mentioned in the Selinsgrove tidbits, Todd Burley will drive for Rick Clay Racing this weekend at New Egypt Speedway. He won't be the only driver there in a "one-off" ride, as 2010 Delaware International Speedway champion Kenny Brightbill will be running at New Egypt this Saturday in Mike McAleer's back up #6B big block modified. McAleer and Brightbill have teamed up in the past in some races at New Egypt.

Billy Dunn looks like he'll be going small block racing for the first time this season. It appears that Dunn will defend his track championship at Can Am Motorsports Park a new small block modified in his new #49 chassis. Dunn will run Cayuga County Fair Speedway for home track points, and plans on once again following the entire Super Dirt Series.

Former Lebanon Valley Speedway regular, Dan Humes, who hasn't done much racing in the past few seasons, has purchased a brand new 2011 Troyer chassis and a brand new hauler for the 2011 season as he plans to run an ambitious schedule in 2011. Humes plans on challenging for the Rookie of the Year honors on the Super Dirt Series in his #0 big block modified. He also plans on running Lebanon Valley Speedway regularly to collect home track points.

Another driver that will run for the Super Dirt Series Rookie of the Year award is Tim Currier. Currier is one of the main crew guys for the Mike Payne owned 27J of Danny Johnson, and has steadily improved since his jump to big block modifieds in 2009. Currier will run Canandaigua Speedway and Cayuga County Fair Speedway weekly. This will mark the first time in many years that more than 1 driver eligable for the Rookie of the Year award plans to follow the whole tour. Rob Bellinger, Dan Humes, and Tim Currier are all eligable for the award. DIRT also mentioned in a recent press released that Peter Britten plans to follow the Super Dirt Series this year, he would also be eligible for the award.

The 2010 Super Dirt Series Rookie of the Year, Lance Willix, was another driver that was affected by Can Am Motorsports Park switching from big blocks to small blocks as the headline division. Willix is awaiting an engine, but hopes to be ready in time to run the Dirt Series opener at Cayuga County Fair Speedway. He currently plans on running Glen Ridge Motorsports Park and Cayuga County Fair Speedway weekly.

Frank Cozze Jr was very impressive once again this weekend at Selinsgrove Speedway. Cozze Jr will once again run weekly at New Egypt Speedway, but plans on doing a lot more traveling with his modified now that he's the only one in the family with a modified. Cozze Jr will be in action this weekend at New Egypt Speedway's RoC Dirt Tour event.

Mike Bruno came painfully close of winning the Albany-Saratoga Speedway championship in 2010. With Albany announcing they were dropping the modified division in 2011, Bruno announced he'd be returning to do some asphalt late model racing this season. However, he's not finished with dirt modified racing yet. Bruno will only run part-time with the modified this season, but plans on supporting the bigger money shows at Airborne Speedway this season.
