Strunk Makes Statement at New Egypt

The RoC Dirt Tour rolled into New Egypt Speedway for the second (third overall) race on the tour schedule. Officially, 61 modifieds hit the track for the $10,000 to win (if the winner didn't pay the gamber's fee, the race would pay $5,000 to win) event. Rob Bellinger took the early lead and looked impressive until he caught a rut that damaged the car. Stewart Friesen took the lead from Bellinger early, but only lasted at the front of the field for a few laps before Danny Johnson took to the lead and looked set to pick up his second consecutive RoC Tour win. However, it was not meant to be as with 10 laps to go, Johnson had a left rear tire go down, giving the lead to Jeff Strunk who worked his way to the front from his 12th starting spot. Strunk would go on to pick up the victory, and the $10,000 check that went with it. Here's the top 5.

New Egypt Speedway (RoC Dirt Tour $10,000 to win)
1st 357 Jeff Strunk
2nd 14 Jimmy Horton
3rd 91 Billy Decker
4th 1 Stewart Friesen
5th 14w Ryan Watt

Not a whole lot of tidbits, we got there a little late and most of the field was in action last week as well.

Eric Kormann was in the Hutchko Motorsports #62 modified for the night. He's ready to tackle Delaware International Speedway this season as he makes the full-time move to big blocks this season.

As reported earlier this week on here, Duane Howard and Todd Burley were not in their normal rides. Howard was in Mike McAleer's back up modified as the BPG Racing #4 car is still trying to finish getting their back up ready. Burley ran the Rick Clay Racing #88c that's usually driven by Billy Pauch Jr. Pauch Jr was running his 358 sprint at Lincoln Speedway.

Be sure to check out my girlfriend, Lisa Hake's photos from New Egypt on RaceProWeekly.com later this week.

what happened to Ryan Godown? Could't make the race last night and SJDR doesn't really have anything?

Godown had a bad draw and the track conditions weren't good for the consi, or the later heats. Unfortunately he was in the last or second last heat and the track made passing a premium by that time.
